Re: day out of time
Thu, July 26, 2007 - 7:58 AMHi ik, looks like we posted the same subject. According to this website www.tortuga.com/portal/dayoutoftime
"The Day out of Time, celebrated annually since 1992, always falls on July 25th. On the 13 Moon calendar, this day is no day of the month, and no day of the week. It is inbetween the closing of the previous year (July 24th) and the dawning of the new year (July 26th). The offical flag for the Day out of Time is the Banner of Peace."
So apparently it is the same day every year and today is Galactic New Years Day. It does seem mathematically incorrect for it to fall on the same day of the Gregorian Calendar but I guess it works that way.
If you scroll down that page you can see there were celebrations around the world. What I find confusing is that there was not a celebration in Portland, where according to this website www.newconnexion.net/article...ut2.html Is where Jose Arguelles has his office. I guess there was one last year in Portland.
"Jose Arguelles (Valum Votan), author of the international bestseller, The Mayan Factor, and originator of the 1987 Harmonic Convergence World Peace Meditation, along with his wife and partner, Lloydine (Bolon Ik), is the Coordinator of the World Thirteen Moon Calendar Change Peace Movement"
I live in Portland and Jose said "we decided that Portland was THE place to ground this burgeoning world movement."

Re: day out of time
Sat, August 11, 2007 - 6:42 PMYep, you've picked on one of the criticisims (sp?) of the thirteen moons idea, i.e. fails to allow for leap years, etc.
I am yet to find a url that explains whether the mayans knew about the "leap year problem"
aka 365.25 days, or not.
would like to know if and how they adjusted. -

Re: day out of time
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 5:33 PMI don't get it.
If the tzolkin is 265 days
and the gregorian is 365
how and why would day out of time be on the gregorian?
Shouldn't it be at the end of each tzolkin year?? -

Re: day out of time
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 8:51 AMthis whole day outta time thing has confused me from the start. especially as it's a gregorian day. isn't the whole point of the 13-moon calendar movement to get away from gregorian time?
oh well, can't complain about a summertime festival day though! ;)
